Picture a dining table at the end of an intimate banquet. The table, as wonky and fatigued as the satisfied guests, holds traces of secrets, laughter and a few discomforts spilled over the tablecloth. Stories and slurred words twined between utensils and dishware. These items lightened the atmosphere and granted proximity; chairs getting closer as the night went through. At this point, said table preserves the vestiges of the bonding moments, and right before the dishes are cleared out, it contains past, present and future experiences. In a Glossary, specialized terms are catalogued in order to inform a larger discourse. This specific arrangement of definitions and terms facilitates clearer communication, preserving key elements and condensing the substance of a text. While the term is seemingly straightforward, linguistic investigation allows for its playful expansion. Of ancient Greek and Latin origin, the original definition of the word Gloss, is tongue, while newer uses range from shiny surface, to concealment or brief explanation. On the other hand, the suffix-ary denotes belonging or being part of. Interchanging these definitions opens new ways to approach itemization. A list of shiny surfaces, a list of explanations, a list of concealments. Large, rigid structures playfully protrude from the gallery floor, bringing awareness to one’s bodily dimensions. The vessels' organic shapes resemble stalagmites, gesturally created by accumulation and time, while a closer look allows one to see through and inside of them. These containers, seemingly empty, suggest the potentiality of holding and preserving as survival tactics. Ranging in color, size and material, the compilation of sculptures seems to embody a gathering, reinforcing the capabilities of these beings as vessels for action. Reissig examines the split second before the table is cleared out. Wondering what happens right before the happening disappears. Would the bottles confess if they were to spill or crack? In the few moments before the objects are frantically shifting, the memories of the evening are up for grabs, and perhaps they will disappear once the mess has been cleaned.
Imaginemos una mesa de comedor al final de un banquete íntimo. La mesa, tan torcida y fatigada como los comensales satisfechos, conserva rastros de secretos, risas y algunos malestares derramados sobre el mantel. Historias y palabras arrastradas se entrelazan entre los cubiertos y la vajilla. Estos objetos aligeraron la atmósfera y propiciaron la cercanía; las sillas se fueron aproximando a medida que avanzaba la noche. En este punto, la mesa preserva los vestigios de los momentos de vínculo y, justo antes de que los platos sean retirados, contiene experiencias pasadas, presentes y futuras.
En un glosario, los términos especializados se catalogan con el fin de informar un discurso mayor. Esta disposición específica de definiciones y términos facilita una comunicación más clara, preservando elementos clave y condensando la sustancia de un texto. Aunque el término parece sencillo, una investigación lingüística permite su expansión lúdica. Grandes estructuras rígidas emergen de manera lúdica desde el suelo de la sala, haciendo consciente al cuerpo de sus propias dimensiones. Las formas orgánicas de los recipientes remiten a estalagmitas, creadas gestualmente por la acumulación y el paso del tiempo, mientras que una observación más cercana permite ver a través y en su interior. Estos contenedores, aparentemente vacíos, sugieren la potencialidad de contener y preservar como tácticas de supervivencia. De distintos colores, tamaños y materiales, el conjunto de esculturas parece encarnar una reunión, reforzando las capacidades de estos cuerpos como recipientes para la acción.
Reissig examina el instante previo a que la mesa sea despejada. Se pregunta qué sucede justo antes de que el acontecimiento desaparezca. ¿Confesarían las botellas si se derramaran o se quebraran? En los pocos momentos anteriores al desplazamiento frenético de los objetos, los recuerdos de la velada quedan al alcance de la mano, y quizás se desvanezcan una vez que el desorden haya sido limpiado.
